Following the client or following the designer's eyes, it's always a question for most designers. When I am doing the project, I really want to change the color which the client picks, and redesign the logo. But when I am reading the note of deep discovery, I think I was making friends with the owner. In other words, I understand why he likes the color, and what kinds of companies or websites he wants to show his customers.
The most important I learned is don't treat your client as your enemy, but try to make friends with them, learn their story, so that you will deliver the website that they and their customer want.
